A new “green” power station project has received full support from Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The creation of multiple “green” power stations in the capital will lead to numerous London jobs and cut emissions drastically. The gas and biofuel-power plants will be built through combined heat and power technology. According to the London Evening Standard, the Mayor has set a target to generate 25pc of London’s heat and electricity by 2025 from local resources. The attempt will save 3.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project for “green” power stations will join the other 14 decentralised energy projects set up by the London Development Agency (LDA). Projects of this capacity need massive government funding in order to reap benefits in the long run. Nearly £16m has been allocated to the 14 projects for the next four years and will create tons of jobs in the capital.
